The world of Ares in the Prince Under the Dome is a desolate place where water is scarce. Brandon wrote the first novella in this science fiction series on top of designing the layout for the novella and a prototype of its digital counterpart. Through the narrative two stories are being told. The primary narrative reads along the odd pages, while the meta narrative occurs on the even pages. The cover sleeve of the novella is able to unfold into a regional map of the world.
The digital companion provides a similar textual overlay with a double column view on desktop and a post chapter experience on mobile. These variations allow the narrative to shift and revelations to reflect on different parts of the story, enriching the reading experience through variation in the mediums and devices readers are using.
