Identifying the Problem
Since 2008 Alive & Thrive has provided research, technical assistance and knowledge leadership around the world. In that time the project had evolved and changed significantly. An ever-growing catalog of resources had been poorly tagged, making it difficult for searches to return relevant results. Navigation terminology left users confused about what information was located where. Finally, content editor updates had slowly eroded the visual design and style of the site.
Designing the Solution
To ensure Alive & Thrive’s resources continued to support nutrition practitioners for another 15 years Brandon worked with the team to reimagine their website. Brandon facilitated a design session for content specialists intimately familiar with Alive & Thrive’s long history of work. During this session the team reviewed recent interview findings and created quick wireframes to address the findings from those sessions. Brandon worked closely with this team to create a new sitemap based on end-user goals, developed a new tagging structure for resources, and repurposed the site to serve as an archive for the massive amount of work that the project had completed. Brandon designed all elements of the new website’s interface; creating graphics, editing illustrations, and defining interactions.
